Hypersonic spraying (HVOF) uses kerosene as fuel, oxygen, and compressed air as combustion aids. The control system delivers kerosene and combustion aids (oxygen, compressed air, and a mixture of oxygen and compressed air) to the spray gun at a certain pressure and flow rate. The mixture is atomized and mixed into a combustible liquid mist through a high-performance atomizing nozzle, and then sprayed into the combustion chamber of the spray gun. The liquid mist is ignited and burned by a spark plug to form high-temperature and high-pressure gas, which is heated to supersonic speed through a Laval nozzle. The powder feeding system sends the sprayed powder from the low-pressure area of the Laval nozzle into the supersonic flame flow. After being heated and accelerated by the flame flow, it is sprayed from the spray gun at high speed towards the surface of the workpiece, depositing a coating on the surface of the workpiece.
